Musical Profile. ^^;

I just joined a few minutes ago and I wanted to introduce myself.

Name: Kim (though I prefer to be called Muki [pronounced "moo-kee"])
What you sing/play: I just enjoy singing to the radio, used to play flute but I was horrible at it since I couldn't read music well.
Ever gone pro?: nope.
Gigs: debating.
Day job?: -__-; I work as a nail technician...
Early experiences of singing: no experiences other than singing to the karaoke machine or the radio.
Favourite singers/musicians: Phil Collins
Favourite songs: "Strangers Like Me" by Phil Collins, "Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden
Anything else?: Singing and listening to music is love. I just love listening to music and feeling the emotions expressed through music. Although, I love music... there are music that I have a hard time trying to enjoy such as blue grass, rap, and some jazz...

I need feedback (please pretty please)

Does anyone still read this community? I need some feedback.
Most of the actual voice training I have is in a classical style, but I generally don't record in that style because the songs that I know are 1) hard, and I need the accompaniment to keep me on track, and 2) rather precise, and I don't want to royally screw up. However, I'm trying to find a band, and I want to have something representing my classical sound up on my myspace page.
I just recorded a part (a very small part, actually) of a song called Chasing the Dragon by Epica. Epica is a metal band with a female lead singer who, like me, is a mezzo-soprano, so I thought it would be a good match.
I think it sounds pretty good, although there are places where I had small things I didn't like (going a bit sharp on the very tail end of a note, for example) but wasn't bothered enough by to rerecord the entire thing. However, I keep going back and listening to recordings that I used to be so proud of that I now realize are crap, and I'm having some confidence issues because of it.
Anyway, I'm putting it up on my purevolume site (purevolume.com/jessicaebacher) and I'd like some feedback. Just tell me if it's crap and I need my ears cleaned out, ok?

Feedback on a new song?

Hi lovely people.
I recorded a new song, one that I really like from the original artist but am not sure I really pull off myself. It's called Before Nightfall, and it's from a band called Brave.

I think that through most of the song I sound pretty decent, but for the last part, the vocals are supposed to get more intense, louder, and more passionate sounding. I'm not a very good belter, and I don't know if I really managed that or if I just sound... bad. My bf doesn't like it, and I'm pretty on the fence.

Please give the song a listen and let me know what you think.

My Space Music page

Hi everyone, this is just a post to pimp my My Space music page which is here - feel free to add me as a friend if you have an account.

Influences Theme

I'm a little late in doing this, but I thought I would (finally) make a post for the new theme, which I think is a really good one.
My favorite kind of music is heavy metal, particularly metal with a female singer. It started with Lacuna Coil, who I still love, and turned into an outright obsession with Within Temptation, The Gathering, and especially Nightwish. I have cds from female fronted metal bands from all over the world, and they're as diverse as anyone could imagine, more so than I think a lot of people know.

I actually did two songs for this theme - Forever Yours by Nightwish, possibly my favorite band ever, and Saturnine by The Gathering, another favorite. They're both here on my myspace page. Please give them a listen and let me know what you think. I actually just sent both of these songs into The Gathering; their singer, Anneke, just left the band, and they're taking demos from people. I know my chances probably aren't good, but I figured, why not?

Music that influenced me....

Is the theme for this month.  So this would involve singing or performing a song by someone who has influenced your musical tastes and style.  Also it would be nice for a litte backstory or explanation to go along with the piece like for example: "Elton John influenced me because....".  Remember you can always post photos/pictures along with your sound files.  Even if you don't want to post up a performance you could just post about music that has had an influence or impact on your life in general.

The tag this month is "influence".
